▼ About the program

Kaji Yuki no Hitorigoto is Kaji’s kanmuri bangumi (冠番組) ー referring to programs that are named after the host’s name, whose main purpose is to serve as a platform to promote the host themselves and for the host to interact with their fans directly. Radio programs can have specific themes, however, due to Kaji’s lack of hobbies, he has decided that he is unable to host programs that heavily promote a specific field, such as Nakamura Yuichi and Sugita Tomokazu with games. Hence, Hitorigoto’s concept is simply for listeners to just sit back and relax while listening to Kaji Yuki talk.

Once you’ve understood that, let’s get to the main parts of how each episode is run:

  • Opening (オープニング)
Opening segment where the host greets the listeners and gives a brief update of their life, sometimes letters from listeners are read here if relevant [est. 1-3 mins]
  • Futsu-ota (ふつおた)
Loosely translates as “normal letter,” a staple corner in all radio programs where the host reads any letters sent in by the listeners. If there is anything you’d like to tell Kaji about, here’s the good place to send it! [est. 8-10 mins]
  • BGP (Bocchi-kun Goods Project)
An original corner in Hitorigoto, where Kaji designs new merchandises for the program based on the mascot character he created ー Bocchi-kun (lit. loner-kun). Check out this page for more information. [est. 1-3 mins]
**Update: Hear Kaji explain it here, with guests Inoue Marina & Ishikawa Yui**
  • Tashinami (嗜み)
An original corner in Hitorigoto, where the program gathers letters each week based on different themes (tashinami) ー topics Kaji is interested in ー originally started out as a plan to help him find a hobby, but slowly became a trivia corner where Kaji learns random facts alongside the listeners about the “tashinami.” Examples of tashinami themes include place names (‘Kyoto’, ‘Ayers Rock’ etc.), food (‘Dobin Mushi’, ‘Annin tofu’ etc.), miscellaneous (literally anything, even ‘glasses’, ‘underpants’, ‘unspoken rule’, ‘chuunibyou’ etc.) [est. 8-10 mins]
  • Ending (エンディング)
Ending segment where Kaji gives a last update on the program’s merchandises and a farewell greeting until the next episode. [est. 1-3 mins]
  • April’s All (エイプリルズ・オール)
A new corner from 2019.04.01 – Episode 260, where Kaji responds to questions sent in by listeners with a lie (based on what another sender has sent).

Irregular Corners

  • Futarigoto (ふたりごと)
Loosely translates as ‘duo-logue’ (dialogue), a pun on the title hitori-goto (mono-logue). This term came about in mid-2017 after Kaji started inviting guests for multiple episodes, refer to list below for full guest list.
  • Kaji-sanpo (梶さんぽ)
Loosely translates as ‘Kaji-walk‘, referring to episodes that are recorded outdoors, where Kaji is “having a walk.” Examples include an episode where he was playing Pokemon GO outside the radio broadcasting building.
  • Kaji-gourmet (梶グルメ)
Referring to episodes that are recorded in an eating setting, first came about when Okamoto Nobuhiko came as guest and they recorded the episode in a Yakiniku House.
  • Kaji-Yūchi (梶誘致)
Expired corner that ran from Episode 3~50, Kaji receives letters from the listeners about their hometowns, and he’ll design a local mascot character based on the content on the spot.
